Up until today, I knew almost nothing about J.R. Blackwell, other than my cool podcasting friends like her, and that’s generally enough for me. However…I got to see some of her photo work today, and I’m truly impressed.
To the right is one of her photos of Mur. I absolutely love what JR’s captured here, and the rest of the set is just as wonderful. From there I went on to explore the rest of her favorites feed, and I think I’ve gone from admiration to fandom in one swell foop.
I think my favorite thing about her work is how she uses light. I know, I know…that’s a tired cliche when talking about a photographer, but it’s true. Examine, contemplate, and see if you grok what I’m saying.
I see that she sells prints. I think one will be gracing my office wall sometime soon.
So…I still know very little about J.R. Blackwell. But I’m impressed with what I do know.
