Pownce Thoughts and Wishlist

I’ve been playing with Pownce the last few days, and I find it interesting. It’s a decent refining of Twitter, and I think it has potential. I’ll be curious to see where Kevin Rose and his team take in the next month.

I’ve been talking to some friends, and asking what they’d like to see in future revisions. Here’s my list:

  • A way to filter chatter by friend or group. (J.C. wants this too. :) )
  • A way to manage Shared Sets of Friends. For instance, if I have a group of friends that are in a Podiobooks group, I’d like to be able to share and admin the Set for a group of people. So that, if I add a new author to the Set, everyone has that person added automatically.
  • A mobile version, that I can access from my Sidekick
  • More API info. I’m in ur pownce, playin’ with ur messagez.

That’s my short list thus far. I’m sure the team over there already has some of these in mind. What do you think so far, and what are you wishing for? Feel free to comment here, or if you are on Pownce, visit this message and reply.

  1. Excellent site, love the elegance of the system. Enjoying it so much, I’m craving for more…

~ User home page timeline noise: There’s too much of it. I’d like to separate incoming messages by those sent to “public,” those sent to “friends,” and those sent to me personally.

~ Leveraging the awesome concept of friend sets to easily read and organize messages/replies from those sets.

~ Invitation-based “chalkboard”: It’d be spiffy to post a comment that would be open to invited user comments. Great Pownce-based place to brainstorm ideas without posting publicly, or to another service, such as a blog or LJ.

~ Friend vs. Fan notification: I’d like to know where I stand with some users. If you’d prefer that I remain a Fan, I’m down with that … but notification of the decision would be nice.
