Ramble On

It’s the first morning of my new writing schedule.  And this is the first post, which means it’s going to be disorganized and discombobulated1, but hey, sometimes there’s no helping that.

  • So…I’m down at the Willoughby Arabica, which is nice, but I wish it was a Phoenix Coffee.  I love the feeling of community they promote at their cafes…it’s always a wonderful experience. Sarah and Carl, hear my prayer, and move further east.
  • Iowa Caucuses are tonight, and naturally, that’s all that is on NPR this morning.  I’m torn, as usual. Personally, I’m hoping Biden has a good showing, but I fully expect it will all come down to a Clinton/Obama ticket in the fall.  As for the Republicans…well…The two front-runners are both wearing their religion like a badge of honor. That always gives me pause.  God won’t fix the country, so I prefer to hear about the issues, thank-you-very-much.  Huckabee has been talking about taking back America for Christ, which is a showstopper for me.  I side squarely with Sam Harris with respect to mixing religion and government.  In the words of Han Solo, “I got a bad feeling about this.”
  • Winter has finally come to Northeast Ohio. High today of 23 degress F, they say. All the more reason to bask in the warm glow of my computer monitor at work today.
  • Working from home is a grand thing, but I have to admit that I miss the office camaraderie at Optiem. If you get a chance to work with the crew over there, do so.
  • The kids go back to school today. Thank heavens.
  • I very curious about MWS’s Open Source Year. Admittedly, he’s only talking about software on his laptop at this point, but the other day he tweeted about having more transparency this year.  What does that mean?  Matt…I’d love to see you blog about that one.
  • When I look at MWS’s blog with Mahalo Follow open, I get Batman references. Is MWS actually Batman?
  • Kris and I are going to get together to record the first episode of our new podcast  this week.  We’ve called it The Secret Lair. Anything you want to have us cover? Anything you’re curious about?2

Time to head to work. Have a good day, all. Let’s be careful out there.

  1. Laura and I dragged the snow to Ohio with us when we drove down from the U.P. I was driving pretty damn fast, so it took the snow an extra day to get here after we did, but you’re welcome.

  2. Chris,

I am looking forward to the podcasting project from you and KJ. Also I agree with you, while I tend to be more conservative I do tred lightly when a Politician says, “Religion is not an issue” then goes on to make it one.
Glad to see your back and hope life continues on the upswing.
