Does Mahalo Crash Your Firefox?

We at Mahalo have had quite a few reports of Firefox 3 crashing when visiting Mahalo.com. (Here’s a video of it happening.) We’d love to get this fixed, but we are unable to duplicate the problem on our own machines.
If this happens to you, here is some information that you could send us to help us out:
- Your Operating System and Firefox versions. Example: Mac OSX 10.4.11, Firefox 3.0RC1.
- Whether you’re logged into Mahalo when it happens.
- prefs.js. This file is found in your Firefox profile directory, and it contains any changes you’ve made to Firefox’s default settings. It doesn’t contain any especially private or personally identifiable information. (Where is my Firefox profile directory?)
- If you can get Mahalo to crash Firefox in a clean profile (one without any personal information like passwords or an extensive browsing history), then sending us a ZIP of your entire profile directory would be extremely helpful. If the crashing happens in your regular, every-day browsing profile, please don’t send this to us if there’s any chance that it includes information that you don’t want anyone else to know, like usernames, passwords, or browsing history.
So if you’d like to help us fix this problem, send as much of this information as you can to chris@mahalo.com. Just remember: We’re all in this together. We don’t want Firefox to crash any more than you do.

install i had, uninstalled/reinstalled silverlight and it works now. Does this work for other folks as well?
Yes. I have been having some trouble with this for some time. This post inspired me to do some experimenting. I disabled all extensions and plug-ins (stopped crashing) and then turned them all back on one-by-one until it crashed again. Then I disabled the one that made it crash and reenabled all others. Then I disabled all but the one that made it crash. At least in my case, the culprit was Silverlight 1.0.30226.2.

This is on FF3 RC1, Windows XP Pro on a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. Nothing changed in my prefs.js. Not sure why that plug-in would cause it to crash, but at least it is something to look at.

Hey Chris, I’m also having crash issues, but I DO NOT have Microsoft Silverlight. I’m using Microsoft Windows Vista with SP1 and Firefox 3.0 RC1
I also don’t have that many extensions installed either: Chatzilla and WOT.
E-mailing you my prefs.js file.
P.S. If you need anything else I will be in #mahalo after 12pm CDT tomorrow afternoon.

I have the same problem with Firefox 3.
I think I found it. On my vista SP1 computer there is no problem. On my XP SP3 it crashes when you go to msn.com. I disabled the silverlight 2.0 plugin and it works fine. It also works with silverlight 1.0.
So I think it is with Silverlight 2 Beta.
